nacht nackt

Running through darkness, evading the voyeur's gaze, striving for liberation from its control. Nackt Nacht explores escaping the male gaze, embracing and resisting the body's implications, revealing the struggle between objectification and agency.

“We wanted to film a scene walking through Berlin naked at night for a short film project. When the time came we felt scared about being naked, despite having been photographed naked throughout our coming into womanhood as models - often by men, and sometimes in moments where we didn’t yet understand the images and connotations. Some time later we met up on the countryside and one night ran through the dark rain naked. Nackt nacht’ originated as a product of that. Nackt Nacht stems from an urge to be free, but in the end feeling caught up by the power of the one who is gazing”

The project is a collaboration between Mathilde Brandi (DK, 1994) and Lou Schoof (DE,1995). A creative duo both having spent 10 years working as models themes of female representation, control and embodiment are prevalent in their work. They are currently based out of New York
